Running Tips to look into
We are extremely fortunate to have an incredible physical therapist in our athletic department. Visit Bethany Vandivort for any issues that arise related to your physical imperfections.
For those who don't know me, my name is Bethany Vandivort and I am the athletic trainer at Nathan Hale. I wanted to send an injury prevention program as you all have likely been running for a couple weeks now. This program is designed to activate the hip musculature as well as the lower leg musculature that make up the ankle. A lot of you may be familiar with "shin splints", though the true name is medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS). One of the best self-care tips you can do out of this packet is rolling out the arch of your foot and stretching your calves daily. You can do this via a tennis ball, lacrosse ball (best in my opinion), baseball etc. I will admit the packet is a little hefty so you can most definitely spread the packet out between days, but at the minimum the calf stretching and foot rolling should be daily! Feel free to swing by the athletic training room if you would like a printed copy and of course let me know if you have any questions.
